Organizations

As much as a synagogue is a prayer community, it is also a place where Jews gather in order to socialize, be educated, commit to social action, be inspired, and gain counsel.

The Jericho Jewish Center has a number of wonderful options to help create meaningful connection for our synagogue family.

Sisterhood

The Jericho Jewish Center Sisterhood is affiliated with the Women's League for Conservative Judaism.  The membership is a unique blend of active and vibrant congregants who have common ideals and a shared purpose. Through the Sisterhood, women can contribute to Jewish Life and ensure that traditions survive from generation to generation.

The Sisterhood hosts many programs and functions to show support of the temple and Jewish Life.  Every fall the Sisterhood sponsors a beautiful Succkot luncheon for the congregation.  During Purim, the Sisterhood prepared hundreds of holiday baskets that are delivered to friends, family and nursing homes throughout the area.

Sisterhood has also instituted a scholarship fund for our congregants' children, ages up to 18 years old who can apply for funds to enable their participation in Jewish experiences such as Camp Ramah, or trips to Israel during their summer vacations.

jake's Men’s Club

The Jericho Jewish Center Men’s Club, which is affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs, has always been an important arm of our temple.  It allows our members involvement in many religious, social and community activities.  The Men's Club is continually seeking out new and interesting programs to help raise funds for worthy Jewish causes while building camaraderie among the congregation. Passover packages for the needy; packages for college students of congregants for Chanukah, Purim and Passover holidays; and learning to read Hebrew for Prayer are just a few of the on-going Men's Club programs.

The Chaim Club

The Chaim Club enhances the social and educational needs of our senior or retired congregants. The monthly meetings or trips are held on the second Wednesday of every month from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  Each meeting starts with a brief business discussion followed by a speaker on interesting topics and concludes with a buffet lunch. Recent issues have focused on Jewish Music, the use of computers, health and nutrition, long term care, and a visit to the Holocaust Museum in Glen Cove.
